A number of key government departments issue their changes in regulation on the 6th of April and the 1st of October, these are called Common Commencement Dates (CCDs).

  • PAYE (Pay As You Earn) thresholds and rates, and National Insurance contribution rates and limits will change from the 6 April 2009.  Read more, click here
  • Businesses providing leave entitlement of less than 5.6 weeks (capped at 28 days) are reminded that they must increase their workers' statutory minimum paid leave as of 1 April 2009.  Read more, click here
  • Employees who have a parental responsibility for children aged 16 and under will have the right to make a written request to work flexibly, employers will have a duty to consider requests.  Read more, click here
  • The threshold at which an empty property becomes liable for business rates will increase to a rateable value of £15,000.  This means that eligible small businesses will be able to claim small business rate relief.  Read more click here
  • Gas installers will now have to be registered with the new Gas Safe Register, as from the 31st March the CORGI scheme will cease to exist.  Read more click here
